'Woeful weekend' anticipated as thousands of cars set to hit the roads across Nottinghamshire
A motoring company has issued warnings ahead of the weekend as millions of cars look set to hit the roads. While the school terms in Nottingham and the wider county finish next week, many others across the country have already ended, and those travelling out of Nottinghamshire for an early getaway should plan ahead to avoid roadworks and congestion.
"With school terms in England and Wales finishing this week and millions of people ready for a well-earned break, we anticipate a ‘frantic Friday’ followed by a woeful weekend on major roads across the country, with traffic and congestion likely peaking on Saturday. One one lane is open outbound on the bridge and it has been causing significant congestion in the city for weeks now. Improvements on the A52 at Gamston roundabout have also been causing congestion problems.
