SAN MARCOS — G.J. Kinne already has done the unthinkable. All across this state, there are teenaged boys, middle-aged men and silver-haired grandfathers who’d never dare it. They remember their high school football coaches, too. Many of them still keep in touch. But there is a line, forged from either formality or reverence or maybe even fear, that few ever cross.
The genuine excitement for Saturday’s game at Texas State stands as a testament to what both have built. Traylor’s Roadrunners are farther along, in terms of both peak and in consistency, but Kinne’s Bobcats enter this week with almost identical expectations. Like UTSA, Texas State is considered a legitimate contender to win its conference.
