Yet a number of state parties of the Republican Party are financially struggling.

The Republican party leads in the number of governors and state legislators, according to the National Conference on State Legislatures . In fact, they control 59% of chambers, 57% of legislatures, and 46% of state control , with Democrats only holding 29% .
