GEORGE TOWN: Like many others, housewife Rahila Abdul Rahim is hoping the relevant authorities will monitor traders now that the subsidies for chicken and eggs have been retained.
The 46-year-old said some irresponsible traders would hoard essential items like chicken, eggs, sugar and oil to force a price increase if the authorities did not monitor it.
“Besides chicken and eggs, I hope the government will also monitor and control prices of other basic items,” she added. “Chicken and eggs are the main ingredients for most of the dishes we prepare during Raya,” she added.“As we know, eggs are a staple food. Continuing the subsidy will be a big help to most of us,” he said.
