Vic Galli wins his final regular season game against Antioch, sophomore Marley Alcantara throws for five touchdowns in relief of an ill Rashada
ANTIOCH – Victor Galli, for the 18th instance in 20 games and for the last time in the regular season, came out of the Big Little Game against Antioch as a winner. After giving the postgame speech, Pittsburg’s coach was surrounded by half of the town’s population and overwhelmed by requests for photographs and hugs.
Galli’s Pirates locked up the coach’s 15th Bay Valley Athletic League championship with the 48-21 win and staked its claim to what will likely be a top seed in the North Coast Section open division playoffs. Then Zach Card, normally a receiver, lined up in the Pitt backfield and took a screen 60 yards for a touchdown to tie the game 14-14. After the Pitt defense held the run-heavy Antioch attack to minimal gains, Alcantara found four-star receiver Rashid Williams deep for a 76-yard touchdown and a 21-14 lead going into halftime.
