Sen. Amy Klobuchar, a self-described moderate with Midwestern appeal, ends her presidential bid and plans to endorse Joe Biden
The Minnesota Democrat's exit from the race will be welcome news to the cluster of other candidates trying to claim the centrist mantle, including former Vice President Joe Biden. But it's not clear yet where Klobuchar's supporters will land.
Klobuchar's rivals, including Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders, were far better organized in those states. And they enjoyed broader support among Latino and African-American voters, two key constituencies she was unable to win over. Klobuchar cast herself as the best alternative to liberals in the race, Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, touting her Midwestern roots and her ability to work across the aisle to get things done in the Senate.
