The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Sandusky post is investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian Wednesday.
SANDUSKY , Ohio - The Ohio State Highway Patrol ’s Sandusky post is investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian Tuesday night. The crash happened Tuesday at 10:10 p.m. on U.S. Route 250 near Fox Road in Huron Township , Erie County .
A preliminary investigation found that Richard Hartnell, 56, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, attempted to walk on U.S. Route 250. The motorcyclist was identified as James Ritzenthaler, 66, of Fremont. The highway patrol said Hartnell suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Perkins Township Police Department, Erie County Coroner’s Office and Wilson Towing and Repair assisted the highway patrol.
