"I’m calling the Legislature into a special session to make real, meaningful investments in our child care industry so we can do the right thing for our kids and parents can stay in our workforce," Evers said on social media Wednesday morning.Evers also announced Wednesday that not a single Republican lawmaker responded to a survey he sent them asking for their suggestions on how to address the state's child care needs.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers speaks during the annual State of the State address on Jan. 24, 2023, in Madison. Evers also asked the Legislature to spend nearly $200 million to build a new engineering building on the UW-Madison campus.
