Governor Kay Ivey awarded $2.6 million to help Alabamians who are homeless or are in jeopardy of becoming homeless.

The two organizations have created a 10-year plan to provide a one-stop shop for those with low income or needs.MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Southeast Alabama Coalition for the Homeless received $375,000. Teaming up with the House of Ruth, SEACH will provide street outreach, homelessness prevention, and rapid rehousing for people in Coffee, Dale, Henry, Houston and Geneva counties.

Other organizations that received the grant included The Marshall County Home Place Inc., YMCA of Central Alabama, and the Montgomery Area Family Violence Program. “Emergency Solutions Grants are in many cases that last bit of rope from which those who are facing tough situations can pull themselves up to safety and go on to rebuild their lives,” Gov. Ivey said. “I commend local governments and regional organizations for their participation in a program that truly helps people in a critical time in their lives.”and receive the latest local news and weather straight to your email every morning.
