Rain, snow and sleet are all possible late Thursday into Friday with up to 3 inches of snow in the northwestern counties of New Jersey, forecasters say.
While initial snowfall total maps from theonly extend to 7 a.m. Friday, which may not capture the full extent of the storm, northwestern New Jersey is forecast to receive up to 3 inches of snow by that time with less than an inch of accumulation in Central Jersey.
The weather service has already issued a hazardous weather outlook for Sussex County, saying, “snow and/or sleet accumulation may result in significant travel disruptions on Thursday.” A winter storm could bring a mix of ice and snow, with accumulations up to 3 inches, in the northern half of New Jersey on Thursday and Friday.
Rain will become more widespread in the afternoon but we’ll still end up with a half-inch or less statewide with North Jersey seeing more rain than South Jersey.
