On Tuesday at 3:41 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch valid from Wednesday 1 p.m. until Thursday noon for Fulton County.
The weather service adds, "A period of snow or mixed precipitation possible Wednesday afternoon and evening, then significant ice accumulation possible Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Total snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches then between two and three tenths of an inch of freezing rain possible."
"Power outages and tree damage are possible due to the combination of ice and wind gusts up to 25 mph. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes," explains the weather service.Winter's icy grip often turns roads treacherous, leading to over 6,000 weather-related vehicle fatalities and more than 480,000 injuries each year.
