A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Northeast Ohio, with 8 to 11 inches of snow expected and very difficult travel likely from Saturday night through Monday.
A winter storm warning has been issued for all of Northeast Ohio from 7 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Monday.The warning is in effect from 7 p.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. Monday and calls for widespread snowfall of 8 to 11 inches across much of the region.
Forecasters warn that travel will be very difficult, with snow-covered roads and reduced visibility likely during the height of the storm and into the Monday morning commute. Snow is expected to spread into Northeast Ohio late Saturday evening, becoming widespread overnight and continuing through much of Sunday. The heaviest snowfall is expected during the day Sunday, when conditions are likely to deteriorate rapidly. Snow will gradually taper off from west to east late Sunday night into Monday morning. For Northeast Ohio, a widespread 8 to 11 inches of snow is expected between Saturday night and Monday morning. The peak of the storm will be on Sunday. Forecasters will continue to fine tune this map leading up to the storm.Very cold air already in place will ensure all precipitation falls as snow, with no mixing expected. Sub-zero wind chills are forecast Saturday night into Sunday morning, and again Sunday night into Monday morning, compounding impacts for anyone traveling or stranded. Forecasters encourage motorists to heed all travel restrictions and delay unnecessary travel during the worst of the storm. “If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency,” forecasters wrote in the warning. Forecasters also warn that while winds during the storm may not be extreme, cold temperatures will produce dry, powdery snow that can blow around easily, especially as northwest winds increase late Sunday night into Monday.
