Due to a significant winter storm forecast for Monday, January 6th, Ohio State University is encouraging instructors to offer virtual classes and staff to work remotely where possible.
The National Weather Service has projected a significant winter storm that is expected to impact driving conditions on Monday, January 6, with accumulating snow and wind anticipated overnight and into the early morning hours. However, the university encourages instructors to host virtual synchronous classes where feasible. The Office of Academic Affairs has recommended that instructors consider shifting to synchronous instruction or activities.
For early morning classes or when synchronous instruction is not feasible, asynchronous learning is encouraged, especially in cases where instructors have not shared a continuity plan with students. In-person classes are expected to resume on Tuesday, January 7. The campus will remain open, and staff members who can work remotely are encouraged to do so in consultation with their supervisors. Essential staff whose responsibilities require in-person attendance should report to work as usual. Most campus operations, including the Wexner Medical Center and clinical services, will remain open. For more information about weather impacts on transportation, parking, and facility hours, visit emergency.osu.edu. 'The health, safety, and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff is always our top priority,' the university said. 'A variety of factors are involved in the decision to cancel in-person classes, and each situation is evaluated on its unique circumstances.' Updates will continue to be shared online, and impacts to regional campus operations will be communicated through regional campus leadership
