A significant winter storm is expected to bring several inches of snow to the New York City metropolitan area, with some areas potentially receiving over six inches. Heavy snowfall is anticipated from afternoon through evening, followed by a lingering arctic chill. Coastal regions may see lower accumulations due to initially milder temperatures.
A winter storm is poised to deliver at least several inches of snow to the New York City region, with northern sections of New Jersey and Connecticut anticipating accumulations exceeding six inches. The precipitation is scheduled to commence around 9 a.m. and intensify throughout the morning. The most substantial snowfall is projected to occur from early afternoon through the evening. By 10 or 11 p.m., the snow is anticipated to depart the area, leaving behind a frigid arctic chill.
Along the Jersey Coast and the eastern periphery of Long Island, where temperatures commence at a marginally warmer level, a combination of rain and snow is expected initially before transitioning to predominantly snow, resulting in relatively lower accumulations at the coastal regions. A Winter Storm Watch is currently in effect for areas situated north and west of NYC for Sunday, while no such advisories are presently in place for New York City. Any deviations in the storm's trajectory will influence the location of the highest snowfall accumulations, but the overall forecast remains consistent: we are anticipating plowable snow across the tri-state region on Sunday. Be prepared for shoveling and sledding on Monday, but remember to dress appropriately for the cold weather
