The Senate will postpone a vote originally scheduled for tomorrow on Department of Homeland Security funding because of the East Coast blizzard. The vote — a 60-vote threshold procedural motion that is expected to fail, barring a major breakthrough in negotiations — will now take place Tuesday afternoon, the office of Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso, R-Wyo.

The DHS funding shutdown started Feb. 14 as the White House and the Senate Democrats negotiate changes to DHS and Immigration and Customs Enforcement after federal law enforcement killed two people in Minneapolis amid a federal immigration crackdown. ICE and Customs and Border Protection personnel are working and getting paid under $75 billion in funding approved last year in President Donald Trump’s tax cut and spending law. Federal Emergency Management Agency, Transportation Security Administration and Coast Guard workers aren’t being paid, though most will continue going to work because their jobs are considered critical.
