AccuWeather forecast for NYC, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut
A monster winter storm will cross the country this weekend but the New York City metro area is likely to only see a glancing blow, AccuWeather says.
The storm is forecast to deliver a far-reaching area of snow and ice across the middle of the country. As much as 30 inches of snow could fall in parts of Kansas, Missouri and Illinois.Meteorologist Dani Beckstrom has more on the seven-day AccuWeather forecast.Several inches of snow is possible in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
A coating to an inch is expected in the immediate New York City area. Areas to the north may not see any snow. The best chance for snow is areas to the south and the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for New Jersey south of Trenton. As much as 5 to 9 inches of snow could fall on South Jersey.If the storm tracks further to the north, the City could see more snow so stay tuned to the Eyewitness News AccuWeather team over the weekend for updates.Behind the storm, another blast of Arctic air will impact all of us with highs only around the freezing mark of 32 degrees.

Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Tri-State Area due to Freezing RainA winter weather advisory has been issued for much of the tri-state area as light freezing rain is anticipated Friday night into Saturday morning. Three Tri-State Area Young Men Killed in New Orleans Truck AttackThree young men from the Tri-State area, Tiger Bech, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, and another unnamed victim, were killed in a New Orleans truck attack on New Year's Day. Bech was a junior trader at Seaport Global Holdings in Midtown Manhattan and a former Princeton University football player. Jabbar, the perpetrator, drove a pickup truck down Bourbon Street, killing Bech and 13 others. The attack occurred during a chaotic exchange of gunfire between Jabbar and police.
