On Day 1 of Winter Meetings, Giants await Judge decision while top SS, SP sign elsewhere.
SAN DIEGO — While Farhan Zaidi met with reporters in the Giants’ suite here Monday evening, his top target of these winter meetings was on the other side of the country, taking in Monday Night Football in Tampa.
“I feel good about what we’ve done process-wise,” Zaidi said of the Giants’ pursuit of Judge, who reportedly has an eight-year, $300 million offer in hand from the Yankees. “Obviously some of it is beyond our control. … I think we’ve put ourselves in good position. The longer Judge draws out his decision means more and more players come off the board while teams wait. But Zaidi said, with the exception of a “handful of players,” San Francisco was moving full steam ahead with its offseason plans.
Below the top of the market, Matthew Boyd , Mike Clevinger , Tyler Anderson and Zach Eflin have already signed.
