Autrey said she relocated from Green Mountain to the Asheville area after the storm and was sleeping in a tent in freezing temperatures. At first, he said he volunteered with search and rescue crews, but now he is trying to help storm victims left with nothing. "I imagine that anything is better than having them sleep in their car so hopefully they'll be understanding about it," he said. "What we've been pushing for is a moratorium on that at least through the winter. We aren't here to step on any toes with the county, and I know they are doing the best they can with an insurmountable problem they're facing, but I think now's not the time with zoning and codes and permits," said Wolf.
The county told News 13 that everything is being done to help storm victims access housing and they are not aware of any evictions because of code enforcement.A spokesperson sent this response:
