The city tied a record high of 92 degrees on Thursday, despite spring still being a week away.

People looking to escape rising inland temperatures this week may find little relief down by the beach as unseasonably warm weather continues to push beach communities into summerlike conditions. By midday Friday, temperatures in Long Beach were nearing 80 degrees.

The city tied a record high of 92 degrees on Thursday, despite spring still being a week away. "I love it. I love summer. I am a summer girl. I don't like the cold. I get sick in the cold so I love it," said Neftaly Lara of Jurupa Valley. Long Beach typically sees temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s this time of year. But after Thursday's heat, forecasters expect even warmer conditions next week. "I mean it's a little weird... you don't know what you're going to get," said Riverside resident Daniela Uriostegui. "I'm going to be honest, it's crazy. It should be cold, I love my winter outfits, but I love summer but I'm sad right now," said Emily Reyes of Santa Ana. With the winter heat wave expected to linger, some coastal residents have already begun adjusting how they stay cool at home. The warm stretch is expected to continue into next week as Southern California heads toward the official start of spring.
