The Flatiron NoMad Partnership is bringing back its annual Winter Glow program, featuring two new interactive art installations in its public plazas. 'Spectrum' by Mirari and 'Diamonds' by Perséides Studio will make their New York City debuts, transforming light and sound into captivating visual experiences. The program runs from January 16th to February 28th.
The Flatiron NoMad Partnership has announced that its annual seasonal programming, Winter Glow , is returning this month to celebrate light, art and celebration.
The program will feature two installations in Flatiron’s public plazas: The Diamonds” by Perséides Studio and “Spectrum” by Mirari from QDSinternational, both of which are making their New York City debut. Winter Glow will kick off on Jan. 16 and run through Feb. 28.“We’re thrilled to open and extend our annual Winter Glow event into January and February, featuring two innovative and interactive public art installations,” said James Mettham, President of the Flatiron NoMad Partnership.
Both “Spectrum” and “Diamonds” explore the boundaries of light and sound, utilizing modern technology and interactive design elements. “Spectrum” features illuminated rings that transform voices and sounds into luminous waves, allowing New Yorkers to watch their voices come to life through vibrant visual patterns. Meanwhile, “Diamonds” is made up of three nearly 13-foot-tall rotating tops that harmonize light, music, and motion when spun by those who interact with it.
“It is truly an honor and privilege that our work crosses borders and can bring people together by offering a moment of joy and poetry here in NYC, the crossroads of all cultures,” said Francis Laporte and Alexis Laurence of Perséides Studio. In addition to the two installations, Winter Glow will feature multiple opportunities for the community throughout the district season, including special discounts and giveaways from neighborhood retail partners.Emily Davenport is the Digital Editor of amNewYork Metro.
