Winston Duke Teases M’Baku’s New Role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
following his recent appearance on the main stage of D23 Expo during Marvel Studios’ showcase, Duke spoke about M’Baku’s role in the upcoming film and how he must now be less insular following the events of“I think M’Baku is forced to catch up with the times,” Duke said. “His role has changed. He survived The Snap, he is now a part of the Tribal Council, so he’s more forward-facing and less insular. So he’s been forced to really be a part of the collective transparency.
Duke went on to say that more of Wakanda will be shown off in the upcoming film before diving back into M’Baku, noting that his character will be looking at things through a much wider lens now. “He is no longer the insular leader,” said Duke. “he’s learning how to move forward. So he has a very large, wide, macro lens as to what’s happening and I think we get to see more of that and see how much that impacts him.”Okoye, and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death,” reads the synopsis.
It is once again being directed by Ryan Coogler from a screenplay he is co-writing with Joe Robert Cole. It will see the return of most of its original main cast, including Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Angela Bassett as Ramonda, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Winston Duke as M’Baku, and Florence Kasumba as Ayo.
