A winning ticket has been sold in California for the Powerball jackpot worth an estimated $1.08 billion, the 7th largest in U.S. history and the 3rd largest in the history of the game.
Also, seven tickets were sold in California matching five numbers, but not the Powerball. They are worth $448,750 each and locally were sold in La Puente, Los Angeles and Northridge, the California Lottery said on its website. The winner can choose either $1.08 billion paid out in yearly increments or a $558.1 million, one-time lump sum before taxes.
