3 million insurance fraud scheme. Lonnie White, 48, and his wife conspired to buy rental properties, transfer them to someone else and burn them down for the insurance money. U.S. District Judge Sara Lioi on Friday sentenced White to four years and five months in prison and to pay $2.3 million in restitution. White will also serve three years on court supervision after his release from prison. Lioi allowed White to self-report to prison., conspiracy to commit mail fraud and money laundering. His wife, Lisa Ogletree, also pleaded guilty in the case and is scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday. Her plea agreement calls for a sentence of 27 months on house arrest and five years on probation. White and Ogletree carried out the scheme from 2013 to 2019. They bought four properties in Cleveland — on Huntmere Avenue, East 188th Street, Huntmere Road and Nelamere Road— and one on Selwyn Road in Cleveland Heights. They staged the homes to appear that they were being rented, then arranged for the homes to be burned down. All five fires were set between October and December 2017.
