The 'Duck Dynasty: The Revival' stars reflect on the late Phil Robertson playing matchmaker and how they will honor his legacy on the upcoming season.
In the upcoming season of “Duck Dynasty: The Revival,” the Robertson family says they plan to honor Phil’s lasting legacy. Phil, the founder of Duck Commander, the hunting company that inspired the original A&E series,Korie shared one of her favorite memories of Phil, recalling the very first time she met him in fifth grade.
“So the first time I ever met Phil, when I went to their house for the first time in fifth grade, he actually told me, I'll never forget this. My friend and I walk up, and he says, ‘Have you met my boys Willie Jess and Jason Silas? And we're like, ‘Yes, sir.’ He said they're going to make good husbands someday,” Korie recalled. She added, “We're in fifth grade. When he's telling us this, he said, ‘They're good hunters, they're good fishermen, they're going to be good providers.’ So he's like, pitching us his sons.”"Duck Dynasty" Willie Robertson on Phil’s request before death and Mama Kay’s health Phil clearly played the role of matchmaker for the couple, who went on to marry and celebrate 33 years together after first meeting in elementary school in Louisiana. They took a trip to Puerto Rico on the show and told us it was a highlight from season 2. Willie, who has taken over as CEO of the family business, says the life skills he learned from his dad, like hunting and fishing, kept him out of trouble and taught him how to be a leader of his family. “I think being out in the woods and being in the outdoors it keeps you out of a lot of trouble as well,” Willie, 53, continued. “It keeps you off the streets. It keeps you out of places perhaps you don't need to be. So, it fills up your time and so I hope to pass that on as well.”The Robertson family all spoke about Phil’s “boldness about his faith” are values they hope to carry on for future generations. “I appreciated that he able to make a decision and leading when he needed to lead,” Willie added. “We relied on that up until the end of his life. We really relied on that leadership of what he had, and mom as well passing that down to our kids so that they can lead make a decision not to live fearful.”
