Aberdeen boss Thelin was linked into the meeting and offered a glimpse of how it went down.
Willie Colllum has met with top managers and officials as he looks to try and improve strained relations within Scottish football.
The Scottish Football Association’s new head of refereeing has held an introduction meeting with officials from all the country’s top clubs and also to discuss a number of topics from refereeing to the use of VAR. Collum has hung up his whistle last season and takes over from Crawford Allan who stepped down last season after coming under-fire from clubs and even some of his own officials.
New Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin couldn’t be there in person but went on to the meeting via a Zoom call and joined fellow representatives from Scotland’s top-flight. Thelin confirmed: “I had to be on the link and I was there with Steven . It would have been good to have been there to get to know everyone but hopefully we can do that another time. It was a referee meeting.
Thelin is new to Scottish football, after he swapped Elfsborg for Aberdeen last month. This will be his first experience of VAR as Swedish football voted against it. Thelin knows when it comes to officials that a respect has to be there. The Aberdeen manager stated: “I would never be a referee, it can’t be easy. Whatever you do it is always wrong for someone. We have to respect them.”
