$HARE is a new television series exploring what a 59-year old heiress of a mining fortune would do with her money. Not what you'd expect.

, she thought her script had a good chance of hitting the small screen. After all, the Writers Lab supports the voices and stories of women 40+ and is sponsored by Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett’s Dirty Films. Katja’s winning story was about 59-year old Lena who inherits a mining fortune from her difficult father and decides to spend the money … in innovative ways. Since a lot of women are about to inherit a lot of wealth in the world, the series may prove educational.

The story behind $HARE picks up on this prediction, and gained inspiration from real life models of wealthy women with a new approach to money.has each given away millions – quickly and strategically, with a strong emphasis on equality and fairness. Last year Melinda French Gates called up a dozen activists working on gender equality and gave them $20 million apiece.

"We can expect to see changes in investment patterns, as women are far more likely to follow their values when they choose what to invest in,” advises Barletta. “Wouldn't it be amazing if this massive money shift results in the big-money investors - now women - insisting on investing only in sustainable companies and industries?"Katja Meier’s heroine may teach us what this might look like, as Lena aims to do just that.

$HARE’s filming process matches the story’s ethos, and aligns its method to its message. Here’s an excerpt from her filming manifesto:: inspired by our background in theatre, we keep set design to a minimum and only use what’s on location and thrift our props.: we don’t do auditions. We send the actors we love the script and ask whether they’d like to be part of $HARE. It works and saves time, nerves, and money.. It’s a platform allowing creators to sell content directly to viewers.
