Telfar Clemens is branching out with a line of jewelry featuring the TC logo that made his bags sell out at every drop.
He created the bag years earlier, but once he had the finances to perfect the design and create a steady quantity, the bag sold out at every drop. Now, just ahead of his New York Fashion Week presentation, Clemens is branching out withlogo that made his bags go boom. Launching on his website today, the minimally crafted collection is made up of six pieces—all pendant necklaces and hoop earrings—in 18-carat gold and silver, some studded with faux diamonds.
Clemens says that he and his team “have been making jewelry for ourselves and for our shows for a long time. People always asked how they could buy it.” The success of the bags made him eager to turn the jewelry into a business. As he explains, “We are very inspired by how our bag has become this phenomenon. It becomes a form of identification and pride that is a little deeper than fashion.” He adds, “Jewelry is even more loaded as a category because it’s this expression of self-worth.
