The Scarlet Knights avoided a potential season-ending injury up front.
Schiano said he would use the Big Ten’s new injury reporting system to determine Needham’s availability for Saturday’s game against Virginia Tech. The availability report, which comes out two hours before kickoff, will list whether Needham is available against the Hokies.
When Needham exited the game in the second quarter, he was replaced by junior Kamar Missouri. The junior from Baltimore, Maryland played 44 snaps. According to Pro Football Focus, he was one of the lowest-graded Scarlet Knights to play on the offensive line. Schiano also left the door open about who would be Needham’s replacement if he couldn’t play.
“We’ll see who the guy is,” Schiano said. “We’re going to figure that out. We’re talking about that as a staff right now. Again, it’s always about finding the best five and then the sixth, seventh and eighth.”“He did some good things and did some things that we can’t do — if we do those things, we’ll get beat,” he said. “It’s a critical position because when I talked about line, I think their edge guys are dangerous. They can roll.
