Hollywood producer Will Packer shares his experience of securing Beyoncé's participation in his film 'Obsessed' after she initially declined the role five times. Packer emphasizes the importance of persistence and viewing rejection as a valuable learning opportunity.
Hollywood producer Will Packer understands that rejection is an inevitable part of life and work. His experience with securing Beyoncé's participation in his film ' Obsessed ' perfectly illustrates this point. Packer revealed on Tuesday's episode of 'The View' that Beyoncé initially declined the role five times before ultimately agreeing to star in the 2009 project. Packer recounted Beyoncé's words: ' Will Packer , I'm not doing your movie.
' Despite these repeated rejections, Packer remained undeterred. He took Beyoncé's feedback to heart, making script adjustments based on her insights. 'I didn't go back or push back and didn't say, 'Oh no, woe is me.' And actually, I was making my project better each time,' Packer explained.Packer acknowledged that Beyoncé's meticulous nature contributed to the extended negotiation process, stating that it took five attempts 'because Beyoncé is very particular.' However, he emphasized the importance of persistence, noting that 'you only need one yes.' Packer's philosophy on handling rejection centers around viewing it as a valuable learning opportunity. He encourages individuals to adapt and refine their approach based on the feedback they receive, regardless of initial setbacks. 'You only need one, so whatever your Beyoncé is, right, keep seeing if there is a way to adjust and learn something from the 'No,'' he said. Packer's experience aligns with the advice of career happiness strategist Amy Nguyen, who previously told Business Insider that rejection should be seen as a lesson rather than a personal defeat. 'Mindset is important here because rejection doesn't mean that you are a total failure or a loser,' Nguyen said. 'Think of rejection as a lesson and get what you can learn from there so that you can improve yourself for the next job.' Packer's story serves as an inspiring reminder that even the most celebrated individuals face rejection, and it's how we respond to it that ultimately defines our success
