Rich Paul paid a visit to Cleveland on Friday, but mum was the word when it came to LeBron James.

What does the NBA’s dismissal of proven postseason coaches say aboutWhen asked by cleveland.com whether he expects James to suit up for the 2023-24 season, Paul played coy.James stole the headlines from Denver following Los Angeles’ 113-111 Game 4 loss on May 22 -- an unceremonious playoff exit that led to questions about whether he would want to return for his 21st season, especially given the turbulent -- and injury-impacted -- campaign.

So, the NBA world waits in anticipation, searching for the next clue. But Paul wasn’t interested in providing it on Friday. After multiple James-specific questions, Paul -- and others from Klutch Athletics -- quickly shifted the conversation back to his new sportswear brand that took over the store and brought local students, athletes and neighbors together for a meet-and-greet and 30-minute Q&A about his latest career milestone.

“I thought I was going to be a professional athlete but obviously that didn’t work. I stopped growing and ran out of talent,” Paul said with a smile. “I don’t believe there’s any limits per se. I believe there’s an ability to coexist with brands out there but also to have your own lane. As long as you do things the right way, people will find and support you. I have a strong belief in that.

“I’ve always been passionate about just fashion and sport and the next new sneaker and all those things. This is authentic. This is not a money play. This is something that’s extremely authentic to me, and I’m passionate. It’s something I’m really passionate about.”Paul, who has been dreaming about designing a sportswear brand for years, is the founder of Klutch Athletics.
