WOnce he was placed under arrest, officers said Jibril Hanif Khairi hurled racial slurs at them and threatened them with violence on March 30, 2026. Around 12:16 p.m., the police were alerted to a man, later identified as Jibril Hanif Khairi, vandalizing street signs with a marker along Mundy Street.
Within minutes, the police said they found Khairi at the Home Depot entrance. He reportedly ignored commands to stop until an additional police officer arrived at the scene. During the incident, the police said he refused to identify himself, and he resisted attempts to take him into custody, according to authorities.Once he was placed under arrest, officers said he hurled racial slurs at them and threatened them with violence. As the investigation continued, the police said markers consistent with reported vandalism were found in his possession. Further canvassing of the area revealed more graffiti on traffic signs, benches, retail displays, utility boxes, and a nearby business, all of which were consistent with the markers the police said were found in Khairi's possession.
