UPDATE: Firefighters have “knocked down” a 6-acre wildfire north of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, according to Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge officials.

The South Adams County Fire Department “knocked down” the fire north of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, according to wildlife refuge officials. Visitors were ordered to leave the refuge, and people asked to stay away from the area if possible. About 10 miles northeast of downtown Denver, the 15,000-acre property is home to bison, deer, coyote, fox and bald eagles.on scene. Police units will assist with visitors needing to leave.
