Authorities in Kiskiminetas Township, Pennsylvania, are searching for a 4-foot wild alligator spotted over the weekend in Kiskiminetas River near Pittsburgh. KISKIMINETAS RIVER, Pa. – Authorities are searching for a wild alligator that was spotted over the weekend in the Kiskiminetas River near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
“There’s obviously more people in the public than there are emergency personnel,” Kiski Police Chief Lee Bartolicius said, according to theAuthorities are placing baited traps to capture the animal, which they believe escaped or was released by its owner into the waters. The search for the alligator is centered around the Roaring Run Trail along Kiski River, where all of the reported sightings have been.
“There were kids shouting ‘Alligator!’ ahead of us on the river. I thought they were kidding,” said Jim Cibik of Kiski Township, Pennsylvania. Cibik saw the gator while he was kayaking on Kiski River with his wife, Joli, and four friends. “We’re aware of the report but the is not responsible for nonnative species, but we do our best to assist with these calls,” Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission Communications Director Mark Parker said.
