The Loughborough student won his 800m Freestyle heat and semi-final in the pool to make tomorrow's final and is now the favourite for gold
Ireland's swimming sensation Daniel Wiffen is in high spirits and believes luck is on his side after securing his spot in the Olympic 800m Freestyle final set for tomorrow night.
Wiffen certainly made waves at La Defense Arena earlier today, clinching first place in his heat, which simultaneously served as a semi-final, outpacing major rivals including Aussie duo Sam Short and Elijah Whittington. "You didn't see my legs come in at the end, so that's where it is, but holding a good pace, happy with the morning swim and a fast time as well, I'm pretty happy. I was more nervous than I was before the World Championships, but that's just the Olympics, a different kind of level. But I dealt with it quite well. A bit nervous around the first 100m, but then I settled in.
