Wicked Release Date Change Moves Movie’s Debut Up

Universal Pictures announced that the Wicked release date has been changed, pushing the highly anticipated adaptation of the hit musical up.

According to a recent post on the official Wicked X account, the new Wicked release date will be November 22, 2024, with the film moving up a week from its previous November 27, 2024 release date. While no reason for the change was confirmed, the movie was planned to release on the same day as Disney’s Moana 2.as Glinda.

Based on Gregory Maguire’s bestselling novel and the Tony-winning stage musical, the film adaptations of Wicked movies are directed by Jon M. Chu from a screenplay written by the musical’s book writer Winnie Holzman. Three-time Oscar-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz also contributes. Both films are produced by Marc Platt through his Universal-based Marc Platt Productions.
