Voices| Why were the ’burbs forsaken and forgotten? Since February I have constantly been home when not at work. I even had a three-week break, yet none of the parties came knocking on my door. Never. Niks. By DumisaneLubisi
Today they are hosting final rallies to show off their might and convince themselves that they have worked hard to garner as much support as possible for Wednesday.
Driving around other suburbs around Gauteng also yielded dololo visibility of politicians campaigning door to door. Bar a few street pole posters, parties seem to have decided that the suburban vote is not worth the visit. On the other hand, rural areas and townships seem to have been unceremoniously blessed with politicians on their doorsteps daily. We’ve seen politicians entering shacks and RDP homes, opening fridges of homeowners and even handing them cash to buy food.
This form of telemarketing can be too much. I can’t wait for Wednesday to come and go. Once voting is done and dusted, these invasions will probably die down too.
