Warning: Major Spoilers for Alien: Romulus below!During the finale of Alien: Romulu, a Xenomorph ends up saving the life of Cailee Spaeny's Rain, but its motives aren't exactly heroic. The Alien movie franchise wasn't in great shape following the critical and commercial letdown of Covenant in 2017. It was the job of Fede Alvarez's Romulus to wipe the slate clean and get audiences excited about the property again.
The Xenomorph Prevented Rain's Death In Alien: Romulus' Elevator Scene Why did "Scorched" save Rain from certain death? During Romulus' finale, Rain and Andy work together to escape the Renaissance space station before it crashes. This involves a setpiece where they ascend a large elevator shaft with Xenos in hot pursuit. Unfortunately for Rain, a gravity purge at the wrong moment causes her to fall down the shaft as Andy looks on helplessly.
Of course, Rain is far from safe, with more Xenomorphs and Facehuggers climbing up to claim her. It's only when Andy drops the malfunctioning elevator car from above and crushes most of them that she earns breathing room. "Scorched" survives this, however, and Alien: Romulus' heroine soon discovers why the beast became her unlikely savior.
Devotees of the series don't have to worry about the Xenos becoming heroic since the movie reveals that "Scorched" saved Rain so a Facehugger could attack her. Both Romulus and past Alien movies have established that a Xeno will take a human host alive if at all possible.
