Director Matthew Lopez reveals that the film adaptation of the hit novel has made some changes to the soundtrack, but assures fans that the author trusted the team behind the film.

“I love Sir Elton — he’s been such a supporter of mine throughout my career — but the scene I envisioned, I couldn’t hear that song,” he tells. With the help of his music supervisors, the aching, lovelorn voice of Mike Hadreas found its way into the film via Perfume Genius’ 2016 cover of “Can’t Help Falling in Love.
