Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II married Prince Philip on 20 November 1947 at Westminster Abbey – but you won't find a picture of the happy couple kissing.
June 18, 2021 - 10:28 BST Rachel Avery With fanfare, pomp and circumstance aplenty, the royal wedding of the Queen and Prince Philip in 1947 was an event which had 2,000 guests and 200million people tuned in via BBC Radio. There are lots of stunning black-and-white photographs of their incredible nuptials, but you will not find one of the newlyweds kissing, and that's because it wasn't a royal tradition back then.
Their romantic moment has since been replicated by many royal newlyweds such as Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson in 1986 as well as Zara and Mike Tindall in 2011.
