Dawand Jones started his second straight game at left tackle in place of Jedrick Wills Jr., who was active after working his way back from a knee injury.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — It was a fairly cut-and-dry answer from Browns coach Kevin Stefanski on Sunday after the Browns' 27-10 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
“I’ve been starting all week , I knew whatever day it was, so it wasn’t no surprise to me,” Jones said. Even for the veterans on the line, it was hard to assess their performance in real time considering Winston threw 46 passes. Both Wills and Jones have struggled at different times this year, after both suffering MCL injuries that required surgery, ending their respective 2023 seasons.
Wills started four of the past seven games at left tackle but has aggravated his knee a couple of times, including in Week 7 against the Bengals. The injury had him inactive for Week 8 against Baltimore. It’s been an uneven return for him, and against the Bengals, he gave up two sacks and a team-high five pressures, but stuck it out to the end.
