"They just decided they wanted to get rid of it," David Martin said.
"They're just focusing on the people who don't want it − it is a real NIMBY exercise where they got the council on to support them," he said.One local who lives in the street said he was worried about safety after a man tripped on a concrete island, and after car doors cars were opened into the paths of cyclists.
"We have taken the wrath of the cycling lobby when that wasn't our intention [to have it removed]," he said. "It was just a flawed design from the start. [The council] should have taken a bit more time at the beginning."
