San's flagship in the film is an unnamed crimson starship that bears a resemblance to La Sirena from Star Trek: Picard. Initially, Section 31 possessed their own starship, but sabotage by Fuzz (Sven Ruygrok), a mole working with San, destroyed it. Consequently, Alok Sahar (Omari Hardwick) and his Section 31 Alpha Team are forced to commandeer a garbage scow to confront San. The climactic starship battle, as a result, lacks visual distinctiveness, a deficiency that could have been rectified by incorporating a familiar starship from the Mirror Universe. The USS Defiant, last seen in Star Trek: Discovery season 1 serving Emperor Georgiou's Terran Empire, would have been a compelling choice. The original Constitution Class USS Defiant NCC-1764 has a rich history, having traversed both the Prime Universe and the Mirror Universe. It even time traveled to the 22nd century, where it was liberated from the Tholians by Jonathan Archer in Star Trek: Enterprise. The return of the Defiant would have added a tangible 'Star Trek' element to the final battle, visually representing a past connection for Georgiou. Additionally, its past role in the Terran Empire would have served as a haunting reminder of Georgiou's past deeds. While the film attempted to carve out a new niche within the Star Trek universe by minimizing traditional iconography, the inclusion of a recognizable starship could have bridged the gap and strengthened the connection to the franchise's core elements.
