Assuming they will all go to the polls, it will be the highest turnout since the dawn of democracy, according to the Electoral Commission of SA . This figure signifies growing political awareness and engagement among South Africans.

However, despite the increase in registered voters, voter participation has declined dramatically in South Africa, especially when considered as a proportion of eligible voters. While the eligible voting-age population has increased over the years, the number of registered voters has not increased at the same rate. South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
