A new report sheds light into the regions that see the most chemical discharge.
Why some states are discharging much more chemical waste into local waterways, according to new reportSome U.S. states are discharging much more chemical waste from industrial activity into local waterways than others, according to a new analysis of data from the Environmental Protection Agency.
A lot of the discharges are associated with nitrate compounds, Danny Reible, a professor of environmental engineering at Texas Texas University, told ABC News "All of these practices support healthy soil, and healthy soil can capture chemicals and keep them from running off of fields and into our waterways," she said.Joe Sohm/Visions of America/Universal Images Group via Getty Images
"We undertook this project because we wanted to learn more about the chemicals that are polluting our water in the United States," Brian Campbell, president and CEO of WaterFilterGuru.com, told ABC News.
