The truth is that most people don’t really think about the consequences of their online postings “because it doesn’t usually affect your life,” she said.The posts don't necessarily mean that all U.S. Border Patrol agents in the group share the racist and sexist sentiments expressed, researchers who look at online behavior said. They say groups tend to normalize behavior that isn’t necessarily what individual members believe.
It’s even more likely within a group of people who are bonded and exposed to potential danger. “It makes them more protective of one and other,” she said.
