Smallville was steeped heavily in the lore of the DC Universe, and focused upon a young Clark Kent developing his powers in his adolescence, and his long journey to eventually becoming Superman. With that foundation in place, Smallville followed a "No tights, no flights" rule until its finale .
Gough also responded to a question whether he and Millar would want to revisit Smallville, stating "To be honest, no. I think we told that story, and they’re always refreshing Superman".
