Ohio State's 2027 recruiting is set for a big test.

Published: Jan. 12, 2026, 6:00 a.m.As the Buckeyes look to fill out their portal class, during what has been a wild week for the team, three 2027 standout receivers were on campus this weekend. Five-star Jamier Brown, the No.

6 overall prospect and No. 1 receiver in the 247Sports composite ranking, was on campus with new receivers coach Cortez Hankton. And they had some big-time company.Ohio State’s first big opponent of the 2026 season has added a dangerous weapon: Buckeye BreakfastThere was Monshun Sales, a 6-foot-5 standout who is the No. 9 overall prospect and No. 2 receiver in the class. He was joined by Eric McFarland III, the No. 23 overall prospect and No. 5 receiver. A trio of that talent has not been uncommon to Ohio State in recent years. But this time around, it felt a little different. He’s already offered a five-star receiver and is clearly looking to make a splash early on in his tenure. Ohio State had two former five-star receivers -- Mylan Graham and Quincy Porter -- enter the transfer portal during this cycle. But there are still a handful of blue-chip receivers on the roster. Hankton’s job is now to keep that pipeline going. Yes, the Buckeyes have had great receivers historically, and throughout multiple head coaches and position coaches. But it’s obvious that the talent has never been better.Andrew Gillis Andrew Gillis covers Ohio State football and recruiting for Cleveland.com.
