The people in Azrael are totally unable to speak.
E.L. Katz's new action horror movie Azrael stars horror icon Samara Weaving in one of her most challenging roles yet, as she plays a young woman trying to survive in a world where nobody can talk. The post-apocalyptic film is set in an unnamed forest many years after the biblical Rapture, and features monsters both in human form and something far more sinister.
The Cult In Azrael Cuts Out Everyone's Vocal Cords At Birth The Survivors All Bear A Cross-Shaped Scar On Their Neck The cult featured in Azrael is speechless by choice, or at least someone in their history made the choice for the cult. Each member of the cult bears a cross-shaped scar on their neck, and it's implied that they all have had their vocal cords cut out of their necks.
Samara Weaving's character's name in Azrael is most likely a reference to the 2nd-century Christian text known as the Apocalypse of Peter which describes Azrael as the Angel of Wrath who oversees the punishments of the wicked.
