Muldoon's brutal death in Jurassic Park was surprising given that he survives in the novel, but his movie death actually makes so much sense.
Robert Muldoon's death in Jurassic Park is one of the most controversial, as the character doesn't die in the book and he arguably didn't deserve to be killed. While the original 1993 Jurassic Park is full of human-eating dinosaurs, there are only three major on-screen deaths in the film, after the terrifying opening. The first is Donald Gennaro , the lawyer who gets eaten by the T-Rex, and the second is Dennis Nedry , the disgruntled park employee who is killed by a Dilophosaurus.
Muldoon's Jurassic Park Death Raised The Movie's Stakes Muldoon was killed tragically, but his death wasn't in vain, as it made audiences realize just how much of a threat velociraptors were, as Muldoon couldn't beat them. The character is an expert hunter who totally understood all kinds of dinosaurs. However, even he was outwitted by them, which massively raised the movie's stakes.
Muldoon Usually Survives In Jurassic Park In Michael Crichton's original novel, the depiction of Muldoon is almost identical to the one in the movie, as he's just as stoic and militant. However, he actually survived in the Jurassic Park novel, and while he was attacked by a whole pack of velociraptors, he managed to escape by squeezing into a pipe that was out of the velociraptors' reach. Muldoon ultimately managed to survive, leaving the island with the rest of the survivors.
