King Charles is reportedly much happier since he's become the King of England because no one has to tell him what to do anymore, royal biographer Robert Hardman says.

Hardman added that Charles is "actually much happier . One of his close friends said to me, there's a new kind of serenity about him since he's become king, because he no longer has to ask people if he can do things, he's in charge."Part of Charles's happiness comes from the amount of time he's had to wait to become a reigning monarch.
"No one had waited to become monarch in history. To become king at 73, far older than any monarch ever was a long wait, but he was never itching to get his hands on the leaves of power," the royal biographer explained. "He was incredibly conscientious about not briefing anything about his plans as king, because as soon as it would start leaking out because it would have looked like he was undermining the queen, but when the day came he was ready.
